While you finish up watching the video and reading the outline of the Hero Cycle on the linked web page, I thought we could spend today discussing your final project. This is an open ended project without a lot of constraints for you. My goal is to hopefully spark your creativity and allow you to pursue an idea in any way you see fit. I've had students write poetry, create music,and even fashion My Space pages for deities such as Zeus. There is always the option of writing a longer research paper but I'd prefer you settled on something a bit more interesting. You may want to ask yourself how your interests intersect with the Hero Journey. What am I good at and how can I express this? I don't expect perfection today, but I would like you to share some ideas you might have in your blog posting today. Please try and have a final idea to me this weekend. We only have one more week before the course is over and that doesn't give you a ton of time to complete your project. I look forward to reading your ideas. Stay cool.
After much thought I am going to create a face book page for Prometheus. He was a hero in that he stole fire to keep man kind alive. He was a lot like Christ in that he saved the human race from extinction. I intend to add his life history within the website and depict him the hero he was. I want to include his heroism and his generosity toward humans.
ReplyDeleteI got to brainstorming, what if I did scrapbook pages of the hero Prometheus' journey including pictures and journal entries? Any comments would be helpful. Would this fulfill the requirements?
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about doing a power point presentation on Demeter the goddess of fertility and agriculture. After researching her for the American Gods project, I really began to gain a lot of interest in this goddess and I just wanted to learn more. I used to be really good at making power points in high school for presentation, so I thought that would be a really good idea on a way to make this project creative. Let me know if it is okay if I do the project on Demeter, and would a powerpoint be a good idea?
ReplyDeleteI find that I may actually use movie maker to try and make a music video for the gods. I don't know how it will turn out but I plan on hacking out details this weekend!! haha
